Some dive resorts request seeing your dive logs before they will take you on some dives.

A dive log book is somewhere where you can have your instructors, dive centres or resorts enter their customised stamp.

You can keep track of what equipment you need for specific dive sites.

If you're not a fan of keeping paper dive logs, you could look into logging them online, or using an app, but it's more difficult getting your dive log countersigned in digital format than on paper.
